Senators best Ohio Mid-Western
ELKINS – Davis & Elkins shot a scorching 57 percent from the floor in a 114-67 win over Ohio Mid-Western Saturday at the McDonnell Center.
Devin Miller fired in 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to pace the Senators. Kevin Bracy-Davis added 16 points, Anthony Daniels 11 points and 11 rebounds, and Wesley Sprinkle 11 points.
Four Rams reached double figures, led by Jailen Teague’s 19 points. Michael Thompson, Josh Chancellor and Robbie Smythe each added 12.
Miller had a pair of dunks as D&E went on a 10-2 run to build a n 18-point first-half advantage. Miller went 10 of 11 from the floor in the first half to finish with 21 points at the intermission.
The Senators (7-4) will be idle until opening G-MAC play at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 at home against Ohio Valley.
AB 74, Glenville St. 70
GLENVILLE – Ron Miller and Thylas Perkins combined to score 45 points as Alderson Broaddus claimed a 74-70 win over Glenville State on Saturday.
The victory avenged an earlier loss by the Battlers to the Pioneers at Rex Pyles Arena in the season opener.
Miller sank seven 3-pointers and scored a team-high 23 points. Perkins added 22 points and was 9-of-15 from the field and 2-for-5 from outside the arc.
The Battlers (6-4) controlled the tempo in the first half and led by as many as 12 in the first 20 minutes.
AB stretched its lead to 17 after a 7-0 run to begin the second half.
Kevin Gray’s six second half 3-point buckets pulled the Pioneers (5-3) back into the game. Gray finished the game with 21 points but fouled out in the closing minutes.
Perkins scored 16 points in the second half.
Malcolm Tatum added 11 points and 10 assists in the victory.
The Battlers scored 23 points off turnovers and won the battle of the benches, 25-11.
AB will return to action at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 with a home game against G-MAC foe Salem International at Rex Pyles Arena.
