Senators fall short against W.Va. State

ELKINS – Anton Hutchins tossed in 25 points to lead West Virginia State past Davis &?Elkins, 89-85, Sunday at the McDonnell Center.

Dominic Phillips added 19 points for the Yellow Jackets, who led by as many as 12 points in the second half before the Senators rallied to get within four points down the stretch.

Aleksandar Visiljevic had 25 points and 13 rebounds for D&E. Juwan Strother chipped in with 17 markers.

D&E (6-4) will entertain Ohio Mid-Western at 4 p.m. Saturday.

D&E 76, Ursuline 72

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Davis &?Elkins opened G-MAC play with a 76-72 win over Ursuline on Saturday.

Jorden Lykes had 15 points and eight rebounds for the Senators (2-7, 1-0 G-MAC). Stephanie Wooten added 14 points and Sharmaine Baker 11.

Emma Ricketts led the Arrows with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Jenny Grisby tallied 16 points and Erica Huber 11.

D&E will face McKendree at 6 p.m. Friday at the Fairfield Inn Classic in Owensboro, Ky.

Pocahontas 76, Webster 40

HINTON – Bobbi McNabb fired in 29 points to lead Class A, No. 7 Pocahontas County to a 76-40 win over Webster County in the consolation game of the Rogers Oil Classic on Saturday.

Freshman Sarah Ryder added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors, while Tristin Day tallied 13 points, six assists and five steals and Lorena Rose 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Samantha Stout led the Highlanders (0-2) with 13 points.

Pocahontas County (1-1) will host Bath County, Va., at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
