TVHS coasts to win

MONTEREY, Va. – Tygarts Valley used a strong second half to claim a 71-55 win over Highland County (Va.) on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs led 33-31 at the halftime before outscoring the Rams 22-11 in the third quarter and 20-13 in the final frame.

“We got off to a slow start,” Tygarts Valley coach Mike DiPasquale said. “We played much better in the second half, however.”

Emily Pingley tallied 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to pace the winners. Kelsey Arbogast followed with 16 points and Paige Pritt 15 points and 11 rebounds. Kelsey Wyss also dished out eight assists.

Chelsey Isles fired in 23 points to lead Highland County (0-5).

The Bulldogs (2-1) will return to action at 6 p.m. today at PVC?foe Union.

Pocahontas County 67

Richwood …………… 23

RICHWOOD – Pocahontas County placed four players in double figures in a 67-23 win over Richwood on Thursday night.

Tristin Day had 13 points, Melissa Murphy and Sarah Ryder 12 each, and Bobbi McNabb 12 for the Warriors (3-1). Murphy also dished out five assists.

Kaitlin Mullins had 12 points for the Lumberjacks.

Pocahontas County will host East Hardy at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
