Alderson Broaddus’ Kline honored by G-MAC for efforts
PHILIPP – After helping the Alderson Broaddus men’s basketball team to a pair of conference wins over Trevecca Nazarene University and Kentucky Wesleyan College last week, senior Adam Kline has been selected as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week.
“He is having a tremendous year for our team,” Battler head coach Greg Zimmerman said. “Adam is averaging a double-double this season and he had some outstanding performances last week against tough conference teams.”
Kline entered the week ranked in the top 10 nationally in shooting efficiency and double-doubles improved on both season totals with efforts last week against G-MAC opposition. Kline connected on 86 percent of his shots last week, averaged 20.5 points and 13 rebounds. He was also a defensive force with four blocks and two steals.
The Winfield native was 11-for-12 (92 percent) shooting with 23 points and 15 rebounds in Thursday’s 72-52 win over TNU. He recorded three blocks and two assists in the first game of the road trip.
Kline compiled his second double-double of the week, his fourth consecutive game with a double-double, with 18 points and 11 rebounds in the Battler victory over KWC. He shot 80 percent from the field (8-for-10) and swiped a pair of steals versus the Panthers. Kline leads the conference in shooting percentage (.723), rebounding (11.4) and ranks in the top 10 in the nation in double-doubles and shooting percentage.
The Battlers will return to action Thursday at G-MAC opponent Central State University.
