Battler cagers cruise

PHILIPPI – Alderson Broaddus captured its sixth straight win with an 87-73 decision over Ohio Valley Saturday night in G-MAC play at Rex Pyles Arena.

Malcolm Tatum scored a season-high 23 points for the Battlers (8-4, 2-0 G-MAC), followed by Richard Lemons with 20, Thylas Perkins with 14 and Adam Kline with 13. Kline also grabbed 13 rebounds and Lemon collected 11.

Osvaldas Gaizauskas and Lawrence paced the Scots with 16 points apiece. Jerry Macon Jr. chipped in 15.

ABU will visit Trevecca Nazarene University at 9 p.m. Thursday.

Wesleyan 73, UC 64

BUCKHANNON – Chris Dewberry had 16 points off the bench to lead Wesleyan to a 73-64 MEC victory over Charleston on Saturday.

Alexsandar Djordjevic added 11 points, while Brett Ervin, T.J. Thompson and Tanner McGrew each finished with 10 points for the Bobcats (8-5, 3-2 MEC).

Xavier Humphrey had 19 points and Aleksander Kesic 11 for the Eagles.

Wesleyan will travel to West Virginia State at 5 p.m. today.

Women’s games

Ohio Valley 67, AB 61

PHILIPPI – Shelby Way and Amy Brooks each scored 18 points to lead Ohio Valley to a 67-61 G-MAC victory over Alderson Broaddus on Saturday.

Freshman Korie Maryo had 14 points and Sydney Shaffer 13 for the Battlers (1-10, 1-2 G-MAC).

AB will return to action at 7 p.m. Thursday at Trevecca Nazarene University.

UC 63, Wesleyan 57

BUCKHANNON – Chyress Lockhart had 23 points as Charleston claimed a 63-57 win over Wesleyan Saturday in G-MAC play.

Nichole Perry also reached double figures for the Eagles (7-2) with 11 points,

Kiki Devane had 15 points and Allie Browne and Adrian Cunningham 12 each for the Bobcats (2-7).

Wesleyan will visit West Virginia State at 3 p.m. today.
