D&E women defeat WVU Tech

ELKINS – Maquasia Ferebee tallied a double-double Monday to help Davis and Elkins College defeat West Virginia University Tech, 86-62.

Ferebee scored 11 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the contest.

The Senators had four other players reach double digits in scoring: Ashley Bowles hit for 11 points, Stephanie Wooten scored 11 points, Ashley Magallanez added 10 points and Jorden Lykes contributed 10 points.

Nia Nolan paced the Golden Bears in scoring with 18 points. Cierra Mobley added 11 points to the effort.

D&E recorded a season-high 44 points inside

the paint.

The Senators held the Golden Bears to 31 percent from the field, while shooting 47 percent from the field.

Davis & Elkins also had an outstanding effort from the foul line, sinking 20 of 22 shots.

The Senators return to action Saturday at 5:15 p.m. at Alderson-Broaddus University.
