Pendleton, Vikings take wins
FRANKLIN – Evan Arrington hit for 17 points Friday to power Pendleton County past Highland County, Va., 70-27, in non conference action.
“We’ve had a bad trend of coming out slow and flat in the past few games,” PCHS coach Ryan Lambert said. “I was happy to see us jump out to a quick lead with our full court zone press. It was the key to getting the ball rolling and part of our game plan. I’m very estatic with how well our team shared the ball and passed unselfishly.”
For the Wildcats, Hayden Fox scored 11 points and had eight rebounds. Senior Luke Yokum added 10 points, while Logan Cooper scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Ethan Botkin led Highland County with 13 points.
Pendleton will host East Hardy at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a PVC?tilt.
Petersburg 72, Moorefield 64
PETERSBURG – Grant Shanholtz scored 23 points Friday to help Petersburg get past Moorefield, 72-64.
“Barring foul trouble, I think we could have got then,” Moorefield coach Pat McGregor said. “We got in a spot in the second quarter where our point guard got in foul trouble. We played really hard coming off back to back road games.”
For the Yellow Jackets, Tyler Smith scored a career high 24 points. He also had eight assists. Aaron Cole added 14 points and Austin Williams contributed 11 points.
Brian George scored 22 points for the Vikings.
Moorefield will visit Tygarts Valley at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
