Weather postpones D&E-AB tilts

ELKINS – Saturday’s inclement weather was finally even too much for the college ranks.

The Davis & Elkins at Alderson Broaddus men’s and women’s basketball game were wiped out due to the conditions.

The contests will now be held on Tuesday, with the women’s game beginning at 5:15 p.m.

The postponement also forced D&E officials to change two other contests.

The men’s home game against Bluefield State scheduled for this evening will now be played on Feb. 27, while the D&E women will travel to Edinboro on Thursday for a non-conference matchup.

If the weather cooperates, a full evening of high school basketball action is on tap for today.

In boys’ play, games on the card include Elkins at Lewis County, Hampshire at Buckhannon-Upshur, Notre Dame at Tucker County, East Hardy at Moorefield and Pendleton County at Pocahontas County.

Girls’ contests include Lewis County at Elkins and Hampshire at Buckhannon-Upshur (5:45 p.m.).

In middle school action, the Elkins boys are scheduled to visit Buckhannon-Upshur, while the Elkins Middle School girls are slated to host B-U.

Both games begin at 6 p.m.

Games postponed on Saturday were Oak Hill at Elkins and Harman at Highland County, Va., in boys’ play, while girls’ tilts called off included North Marion at Elkins, Tygarts Valley at St. Marys, Harman at Highland County and Gilmer County at Pocahontas County.

As of presstime today, area schools on a two-hour delay included Randolph, Barbour, Upshur, Tucker and Lewis counties.
