D&E earns victory

ELKINS – Davis & Elkins survived a late charge by Cedarville University to claim a 60-58 G-MAC victory Thursday night at the McDonnell Center.

The Senators (11-9, 3-5 G-MAC) led 50-36 with 11 minutes left in regulation before the Yellow Jackets rallied to cut the deficit to 52-48 on a pair of treys by Marcus Reineke.

But Alex Vasiljevic scored the final eight points for D&E, and a potential game-winning 3-pointer by Jason Cuffee at the buzzer was off target to allow the Senators to escape with the win.

Devin Miller had 15 points and Vasiljevic 10 points and 12 rebounds to lead D&E.

Reineke had 19 and Cuffee 10 for Cedarville (5-14, 3-4).

D&E will host Central State at 4 p.m. Saturday for another league contest.

Central State 70, AB 68

PHILIPPI – Anthony Adams- Rule had 19 points and 10 rebounds as Central State snapped Alderson Broaddus’ 12-game win streak Thursday night in G-MAC play at Rex Pyles Arena.

Richard Lemon, despite fouling out midway through the second half, and Thylas Perkins each had 19 points for the Battlers (14-5, 7-1 G-MAC).

AB will host Cedarville University at 4 p.m. Saturday in another league matchup.

The Marauders (13-7, 5-2) will visit Davis &?Elkins on the same day.

Women’s Game

Cedarville 69, D&E?68

ELKINS – Kayla Linkous hit a pair of free throws with three seconds left as Cedarville rallied from an 18-point deficit to claim a 69-68 win over G-MAC foe Davis &?Elkins Thursday at the McDonnell?Center.

Ashley Bowles (14), Ashley Magallanez (13) and Jorden Lykes (12) reached double figures for the Senators, who led 32-14 with 5 minutes left in the first half.

Reagan Ryan (21) and Kayla Jenerette (20) combined for 41 points and made 8 of 14 shots from beyond the arc for the Yellow Jackets (10-8, 6-2 G-MAC). Deborah Gordon added 12 points, while Linkous finished with 10.

D&E (10-12, 7-3) will host Central State at 2 p.m. Saturday in G-MAC action.

AB 98, Central State 94, OT

PHILIPPI – The Alderson Broaddus women’s basketball team picked defeated Central State University, 98-94, in overtime Thursday night at Rex Pyles Arena.

The Battlers will return to action at 2 p.m. Saturday at home against Cedarville University.
