D&E swimmers cruise past West Virginia Tech

ELKINS – Senior Day was a special one for the Davis & Elkins College Senators as they swam past West Virginia Tech by a score of 225-97.

The men recorded a 130-58 win and the women rolled to a 95-39 victory over the Golden Bears.

D&E claimed early points in both the men’s and women’s 200-yard medley relay and ended up with 16 victories over 22 events.

Kayla Huckaby won individual events in the 100 freestyle and 100 breaststroke, while Chelsea Farisshe swam to victory in the 500 freestyle, Brooke Bielecki took first place in two events – the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle, Autumn Wunderlich took the 100 butterfly and Kendal Williams claimed the 200 freestyle.

On the men’s side, Ryan O’Connell recorded a victory in the 200 freestyle, Holden Easterbrook in the 50 freestyle, Zayd Othman in the 100 butterfly, Chris Swank in the 100 freestyle and Sam McDaniels in the 100 breaststroke.

Seniors Matt Benoit and Pate Mannon both competed in the team relay to help the Senators claim the victory.

D&E will return to the pool on Feb. 12 at the BMC Championships in Charlotte, N.C.
