Perkey leads Lewis girls past Elkins

ELKINS – Brooklyn Perkey fired in 22 points to lift Lewis County to a 57-46 win over Elkins on senior night Friday at Richard P. Simmons Memorial Gymnasium.

Madison Collett tallied 16 points for the Tigers, hitting three 3-pointers in the first half. Logan Dudley added 13 points.

Karli Hamrick chipped in with 11 points for the Minutemaids.

Elkins will begin Class AAA sectional play next week.

The Tigers won the junior varsity game, 48-24. Sierra Poling had nine points and Jontasia Sitton had eight.

Tucker County 61, East Hardy 35

HAMBLETON – Bekah Simmons scored 11 points to lead Tucker County past East Hardy, 61-35, in Potomac Valley Conference action.

The Lady Mountain Lions opened the game with a 22-2 first quarter and never looked back.

“The girls played well,” TCHS coach Jim Ambrose said. “They were drained from last night’s emotional win in over time. It took a lot out of us. We had a great week of basketball.”

Madison Mullenax scored 10 points for TCHS. Aiyana Kachmarek added six rebounds and four blocked shots.

Ruby Fridley paced the Cougars with 12 points.

Tucker County will open sectional play at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday against the winner of Union/South Harrison. The sectional game will be played at Elkins High School.

Pocahontas 70, Pendleton 44

DUNMORE – Sarah Ryder had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead Pocahontas County Pendleton County Friday night in PVC play.

Bobbi McNabb had a team-high 22 points and Tristin Day added 21 for the Warriors (13-6), who will visit Charleston Catholic today.

Hillary Ord led the Wildcats with 14 points.
