Tygarts Valley takes games from Harman

HARMAN – Jace Kyle exploded for 23 points to lead Tygarts Valley past Harman, 63-48, Saturday in PVC action.

The Bulldogs had a 27-23 advantage at halftime. However, a 23-point third quarter put the game out of reach for Harman.

“Harman came out hot and ran out to a 13-2 lead to start the game,” TVHS coach Tom Wamsley said. “We got our defense adjusted and started playing better and slowly chipped away at their lead. In the third quarter, we found our rhythm on both ends of the floor and got out to a comfortable 50-31 lead going into the fourth quarter.”

Caleb Riggleman had 12 points and five assists for the Bulldogs. Derrick Villarico and Ben Sycafoose scored 10 points each. Keighan Chewning grabbed eight rebounds.

“I am very proud of the team,” Wamsley said. “It was almost 2 a.m. when we returned from (Friday) night’s game versus Valley Wetzel and then we had to make another bus trip here to Harman and play against a team that was really jacked up to play hard in front of their supportive home crowd. Some of our kids were running on fumes by the end of the game, but they gutted it out.”

Kaleb Shifflett paced the Panthers with 19 points. Casey Elza added 13 points, including two three-point field goals.

Tygarts Valley is scheduled to visit PVC?foe East Hardy at 7:30 p.m. today, while Harman will travel to South Harrison at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
