Harman players and coach honored

HARMAN – Four Harman players and a coach have been honored by the Potomac Valley Conference for their efforts on the basketball court.

Juniors Casey Elza, Joshua Shifflett and Coy Cummings were named to the All-PVC team for Division 1A small schools.

The remainder of the team includes Union’s Travis Murphy, WVSD’s Patrick Epperly and Paw Paw’s Josh Newlon and River Weese.

Harman’s Fred Davis was selected the Coach of the Year.

The Panthers advanced to the second round of the sectional tournament this past season and compiled a record of 10-5.

Harman’s Kenna Bennett, a senior, was named to the girls team.

Joining her on the unit were Union’s Colleena Burdock, Megan Putlovis and Destiny Mann, along with Paw Paw’s Belle Harold, Alivia Snyder and Shiann Groah.

Paw Paw’s Lana Loya was honored as the Coach of the Year.

The Harman players and coach will be recognized at a sports banquet at 6 p.m. Friday at the school.

Members of the Division 2AA team included Petersburg’s Brian George and Grant Shanholtz, Berkeley Springs’ Michael Kearney and Brandon McCumbee, Frankfort’s Chase Detrick and Jacob Young, and Keyser’s Malik Harper and Ryan Streets.

Petersburg’s Phil Canfield was the Coach of the Year.

Three players from Keyser led the Division 2AA girls squad. They include Lexi Carr, Lexi Taylor and Katlynn Tichnell.

Other members of the team include Petersburg’s Brittani Bible and Samantha Rohrbaugh, Frankfort’s Madison Pfaff and Katie Beeman, and Berkeley Springs’ Sarah Haynes.

Josh Blowe from Keyser was the Coach of the Year.
