HARMAN – Harman School recognized its student-athletes during a banquet Friday night inside the school’s gymnasium.

Teams honored were the boys and girls varsity basketball teams, the boys and girls junior high basketball squads and the cheerleaders.

After Harman principal Tammie Daniels welcomed the crowd, director of athletics Rocky Nestor followed with some brief remarks and the Invocation.

Award presentations followed for the teams.

Several high school boys and girls basketball players received special honors on the evening for their play on and off the court.

Girls varsity basketball player Kenna Bennett, the lone senior on the team, was honored for her selection on the All-Potomac Valley Conference team for Division IA small schools, as well as being a PVC Scholar Athlete, which requires having a 3.5 GPA or higher.

For the boys, juniors Casey Elza, Joshua Shifflett and Coy Cummings were recognized for their selection on the All-PVC team. Elza also was saluted for being an honorable mention Class A all-state selection, while Chris Alt, the lone senior player, was named a PVC Scholar Athlete.

The Harman boys won the PVC Division IA small schools championship, finishing with an overall record of 10-5, capturing the Union tournament and advancing to the semifinals of the sectional tourney.

The Panthers’ Fred Davis was the PVC’s Division IA small schools Coach of the Year.
