Pendleton blanked by Rams
FRANKLIN – Derrick Oliver and Eli Altizer combined to throw a shutout as Bath County, Va., defeated Pendleton County, 3-0, in non-conference action on Friday.
Logan Cooper took the loss for the Wildcats. He pitched three innings, giving up four hits and striking out five. Luke Yokum started the game, but was pulled after two innings. He also struck out five batters.
At the plate, Luke Yokum went 1 for 2 with a double. Jacob Lambert went 1 for 3 with a double.
Owen Fry paced the Rams, going 3 for 4 with a home run, a triple and two RBIs. Tanner Plecker went 2 for 4 with an RBI.
“We did a good job defensively,” Pendleton County coach Sam Yokum said. “We had runners in scoring position a number of times and we struck out. We had four strikeouts with runners in scoring position. That really hurt us. We just didn’t do the little things offensively to score runs.”
