AB splits contests at Salem; D&E earns wins over OVC
SALEM – The Alderson Broaddus softball team completed the regular season by splitting a pair of G-MAC games against Salem International on Sunday.
The Battlers dropped the opener 9-0 in five innings, before taking the nightcap, 8-6.
Katie Mangold and Lise Couturier each drove in two runs for the Tigers in a five-run fourth inning.
The Battlers bounced back to take the nightcap as Regan Drake hit a solo homer and Regan Drake hit a two-run single in the sixth to break a 6-6 tie.
Megan LaFon took the win, allowing six runs in seven innings.
On Saturday, AB swept Ohio Valley by the scores of 2-1 and 10-5.
The Battlers will face Davis &?Elkins at 10 a.m. Thursday in opening round action of G-MAC tournament in Vienna.
D&E sweeps OVC
VIENNA – Davis &?Elkins closed the regular season by sweeping Ohio Valley Sunday in G-MAC action.
The Senators took the opener, 11-1, and completed the sweep with a 2-0 decision in the second game.
Katelyn Norton had a two-run homer in the opener for D&E, while Amanda Serafini finished with four RBIs.
Amber LaBille (8-13) earned the win, allowing one runs on six hits.
In the nightcap, the Senators plated an unearned run in the fourth and tacked on another in the fifth on Danielle Norton’s RBI single to back the pitching of Alanna Jones, who yielded only three hits and fanned six in a complete-game effort.
D&E split a pair of game at Salem International on Saturday, falling in the lidlifter, 6-1, before taking the nightcap, 7-2.
