Colts corral Bucs in Big 10 matchup

PHILIPPI – Jacob Marsh drove in four runs Friday to power Philip Barbour past Buckhannon-Upshur, 10-3, in Big 10 Conference action.

“Dylan Harris pitched a great ball game against a good hitting B-U team,” PB Coach Jonathan Carpenter said. “We moved Al Johnson behind the plate. He controls the game and places the pitches. He’s a great from the catcher position. We also got timely hitting. That makes the game much easier.”

Harris pitched the complete game, giving up three hits and three runs. He also stuck out four and walked four.

Marsh paced the Colts offense, going 2 for 3 with four RBIs. Al Johnson went 2 for 5 with two doubles an RBI and a run scored. Sage Cline went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Chris Neville went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Senior Matthew Fair took the loss for the Bucs. He pitched 1 2/3 innings, giving up five runs on four hits. At the plate, he was 0 for 2 with a run scored.

Benjamin Cunningham led the B-U offense. He was 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored.

Philip Barbour (4-9) will return to action Monday at 4:30 p.m. for a Big 10 doubleheader at Liberty.

B-U will visit conference and sectional rival Elkins at 7 p.m. on Monday.
