East Hardy, Petersburg take victories

MARTINSBURG – Morgan Basye’s three-run homer was the difference as East Hardy claimed a 3-1 win over Spring Mills on Wednesday night.

Basye’s homer came in the third inning and was the junior’s second of the year.

Autumn Mathias and Allison Dyer added hits for the Cougars, who improved to 2-2 on the season.

Jodie Funkhouser earned the win in a complete-game effort. She gave up one unearned run on nine hits with one walk and no strikeouts.

Courtney Gordon took the loss for the Cardinals, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out nine and not walking a batter.

East Hardy will entertain Martinsburg at 7 p.m. today.

Petersburg 13, Keyser 1

KEYSER – Cassidy Hedrick had three hits and knocked in a pair of runs as Petersburg stayed undefeated on the season with a 13-1 win over Keyser on Wednesday night.

Brooke Hott added a pair of RBI singles for the Vikings, while Callie Wisnewski, Halie Swick and Cheyenne Earle each had two hits.

Marley Thompson registered the win on the mound.

She went all six innings, allowing three hits, fanning nine and not walking a batter.

Petersburg (4-0) will host Frankfort at 7 p.m. Friday.
