Tigers win big at Myrtle Beach
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Issac Riggleman pitched a two-hitter Wednesday morning to lift Elkins past Greenbrier West, 11-1, in the Mingo Bay Classic at St. James High School in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
“It was nice to see our bats wake up,” Tigers coach Adam Roth said. “We hit well. A lot of people contributed to the offense. Aside from a few miscues, it was a very solid team effort. Issac Riggleman gave a very good effort on the mound and got the job done for us.”
Riggleman pitched seven innings to pick up the win. He struck out six batters and gave up one unearned run.
Tyler Shreve paced the Tiger offense, going 2 for 3 with three runs scored. Logan Phillips was 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Colby Gainer went 2 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored. Kollin Hopwood finished the game 1 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
The Cavaliers scored their only run in the second inning when Jared Jennings scored on an error. Dustin Yoakum took the loss.
The Tigers (7-5) return to action today against Aynor S.C. at 7 p.m.
