Tucker County seniors suit up in annual all-star game

FROSTBURG, Md. – The 34th annual Lions All-Star Classic was played on Sunday.

The game features senior all-stars from the West Virginia Eastern Panhandle against Western Maryland senior all-stars.

In the girls game, Tucker County players Stephanie Betler and Savannah Ambrose participated in the game.

The outcome of the game did not favor the West Virginia team as it fell to the Maryland All-Stars 56-50. Betler was named co-MVP for the West Virginia team after the contest.

In the boys game, Tucker County players Ian Nichols and Mitchell Mason participated.

The West Virginia team picked up the victory, 114-112.

Nichols was named co-MVP for the West Virginia squad.

Nichols is not done competing in all-star games, however, as he will play for the North team in the annual North-South Classic to be held in June 20 at the South Charleston Community Center. Tucker’s Tom Gutshall will coach in the event.
