Chamber announces cash prizes for tourney

The Barbour County Chamber of Commerce has added new cash prizes to its array of awards during the Chamber’s Annual Golf Tournament on June 13 at the Barbour Country Club.

All proceeds from the Charity Golf Scramble go to organizations and scholarships at Philip Barbour High School.

This year’s tournament kicks off with a Continental Breakfast at 9 a.m. followed by a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The $200 team entry fee takes care of all golf fees, the use of two golf carts, continental breakfast, lunch on the course, door prizes, and a chance to win $10,000 for a hole-in-one.

The tournament committee has added new cash prizes in an effort to attract more teams, including a cash prize of $300 for the lowest-scoring team, and $200 for the second-lowest-scoring team in Flight A, and cash prizes of $300 for the lowest-scoring team and $200 for the second-lowest-scoring team in Flight B. Skills prizes will be presented to individuals for the Longest Drive, Longest Putt, and Closest to the Pin. The committee will have Mulligans for sale and tickets on a 50/50 drawing.

The public is invited to support the charity effort be entering a team of four, sending a door prize, or sponsoring a hole for $100, for which recognition will be given. Registration is limited to the first 15 teams.
