Petersburg pushes past Keyser

PETERSBURG – The Vikings scored five runs in the fourth inning to push Petersburg past Keyser, 7-1, in the Class AA, Region II semifinal.

“We’ve been getting outstanding pitching,” PHS coach Bobby Jack Harman said. “We only gave up one run. We’ve been getting dominating pitching lately, and we’ve had different players come through offensively. I feel good about that.”

Ryan Colaw took the mound in relief in the fourth inning to pick up the win. He pitched three innings, striking out four batters and giving up one hit.

Brian George started the game for Petersburg. He struck out five batters.

Josh Bane took the loss for Keyser. He pitched five innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits.

Trevor Harman connected for a three-run double in the fourth inning to start the rally. Brandon George and Brian George also drove in runs in the stanza.

Keyser scored their run when Travis Smith was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Logan Robinette.

Petersburg (18-7) will travel to Bridgeport on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
