HAMBLETON – Six Tucker County student-athletes recently signed letter of intents at area colleges during a ceremony inside the school’s gymnasium.

Freeman qualified for this year’s state meet in the 200- and 400-meter dashes.

Phillips competed in running events for the Mountain Lions, while Dyer was a discus thrower.

Whitehair and Bowley were both standouts on the school’s softball team, and will now join Wesleyan’s traditional powerhouse squad, which captured the Mountain East title this past spring and is a NCAA Division II tourney regular.

Bowley also played basketball at Tucker County.

McDermott signed with Davis &?Elkins.

The future Senator was one of the top hitters for the Mountain Lions during his career and also suits up for Elkins American Legion Post 29 during the summer.
