Bobcat players honored

BUCKHANNON – A pair of West Virginia Wesleyan football players have been named to the 2014 All-Mountain East Conference Preseason Team.

Senior quarterback Jeremy Musselman and junior cornerback Antonio Harris were both selected to the squad.

Musselman threw for 2,523 yards and 20 touchdowns last season, while Harris racked up 56 tackles and intercepted two passes.

Shepherd, the 2013 MEC champion, leads the squad with six selections, while Concord and Charleston each had five and Notre Dame had four selections. Glenville State, Urbana and West Liberty joined Wesleyan with two selections.

Fairmont State and West Virginia State had one player selected to the preseason team.

Representing the Rams are running back Allen Ross, fullback Jonathan Hammer, offensive lineman Isaiah Shelton, linebacker Levi Barber, kicker Ryan Earls and kick returner C.J. Davis, who is also a preseason All-American first-team selection.

Junior offensive lineman Chris Barfield is the Fairmont State player on the list, while Glenville State picks include running back Rahmann Lee and defensive lineman Gary Henderson.

The MEC preseason poll will be announced on Aug. 8.

The 2014 season will begin on Sept. 4, when Fairmont State entertains Notre Dame.

Wesleyan will open the season at 1 p.m. on Sept. 6 at home against Charleston.
