Elkins 13s will play in Kentucky

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. – The Elkins 13-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars will begin Ohio Valley Regional Tournament play today.

Elkins is set to battle Crown Point, Ind., at 3:30 p.m. today.

“Everyone made it down safe and sound,” Elkins manager Steve Schumacher said. “The kids all took the trip well. They are having a lot of fun. They’ve been swimming in the hotel pool and burning off some energy. They’re ready for competition. It’s been a week and half since they’ve played, so they’re hungry.”

On Friday, Elkins will play Mattoon, Ill, at 10:30 a.m. and Cambridge, Ohio, at 3 p.m.

Following pool play, the teams will be ranked and compete in a single-elimination tournament to determine who goes on the compete in the Babe Ruth World Series.

Members of the 13-year-old All-Stars include: Adam Hart, Brett Smith, Cole Crumm, Jeremy Coger, Read Schumacher, Hunter Mouse, Beau Bright, Thomas Talkington, Jesse Williams, Jon Phillips, Austin Lanham and Matthew Gainer.

Schumacher is being assisted by Jimmy Gainer and Jesse Williams.
