Elkins All-Stars blast Clay County

SUMMERSVILLE – Josh Reckart gave up one run Monday to help power the Elkins 11-12 year-old All-Stars past Clay County, 14-1, in four innings.

“We hit the ball well,” Elkins coach Matt Davis said. “Everybody contributed to the effort. We got good pitching and the defense played well. We ended the game with a nice double play. I’m proud of the kids’ effort.”

Reckart pitched two innings to earn the victory. Allen Bennett tossed two innings in relief.

Bennett also paced the offense for Elkins, going 4-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored.

The Elkins All-Stars return to action on Thursday at 8 p.m. in Summersville to face Braxton County to determine who moves on to play in the state tournament, scheduled for next month in Chapmanville.
