Post 29 finishes season with win over Bridgeport

ELKINS – Elkins Post 29 pitcher Tyler Scott finished the regular season with a 5-0 record Monday, en route to a 3-2 win over Bridgeport Post 68 at Robin Harvey Memorial Field in Elkins. The game was called after five innings due to rain.

Elkins Post 29 finished the regular season with a 29-8 record.

“We were a little rusty tonight,” Elkins manager Chris George said. “We had a few rainouts over the weekend. By the 4th inning, we started to get the rhythm back and scratched out a win. All season long, we’ve found a way to win. We knew the rain was coming, I told the guys we got to get the bats moving. They responded and got us a win.”

Scott pitched five innings, giving up six hits and striking out two batters.

Houston Morris took the loss for Bridgeport. He gave up three runs on four hits in five innings.

Bridgeport drew first blood, taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when Tyler Skidmore hit a triple to drive in Greg Smith.

Post 29 tied the game in the 4th inning, when Chance Price crushed a solo home run.

Not to be outdone, Bridgeport regained the lead in the 5th inning, when Hunter Haddix singled to score Smith.
