Riggleman pitches Post 29 to 8-3 win over Fairmont

ELKINS – Isaac Riggleman allowed seven hits and no earned runs to lead Elkins to an 8-3 victory over Fairmont Tuesday night at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.

Riggleman, a Davis &?Elkins College signee, struck out three and walked just one in going all nine innings.

“Isaac threw a tremendous game,” Post 29 manager Chris George said. “He got stronger and better as the game went along.

“This was a quality win over a very talented team.”

The game was deadlocked at 1-all before P.J. Lanham gave Elkins a 2-1 lead with an RBI?groundout in the fourth that plated Doug Smith.

Post 17 pushed across a pair of runs in the fifth on an error and RBI?single by Johnny Kesling.

A run-producing single by Colby Gainer and an RBI double from Chance Price allowed Elkins to regain a 4-3 edge.

Elkins blew the game open in the eighth when Daniel Crawford and Gainer tallied RBI singles and two more runs crossed on Fairmont miscues.

Jacob Bolander took the loss, allowing six runs, none being earned, on six hits in two innings of relief. He fanned two and didn’t issue a walk.

Gainer led the Post 29 offense by going 3 for 5. Al Johnson added an RBI single in the third.

Elkins (25-8) will remain home at 7 p.m. today to battle Potomac Valley.
