Senator softball signs 8

ELKINS – The Davis & Elkins College softball team has signed eight new players for the 2014-15 school year.

The newcomers include six freshmen, one junior college player and a transfer from the University of Mary Washington.

“I could not be more excited about this recruiting class,” Senator coach Kimberly Stiles said. “This is a really great group of young women and I am very excited to get them on the field.”

Victoria Krystynak is the lone player from the Mountain State among the new recruits.

Krystynak is a left-handed pitcher/first baseman who hails from Ronceverte and played at Greenbrier East High School.

She graduated in the top 10 percent of her high school class, earned All-State Honors in each of her final two seasons and was the runner-up for the West Virginia State Player of the Year award this past season.

Other freshman signees include Kayla Diana (Seaford, Va.), Allie Nowak (Smithfield, Va.), Alexander Lapallo (North Chesterfield, Va.), Sydney Turner (Poquson, Va.) and Katlyn Huffman (Virginia Beach, Va.).

Taylor Norton is a junior who played at Florence Technical College last season, while Ashton Ferneyhough is transfering from the University of Mary Washington. Both players are natives of Virginia.
