Tygarts Valley players attend Dawson camp

MILL?CREEK – Tygarts Valley football players Carl Pridemore and Dalton Vandevender recently attended the Dermontti Dawson Youth Football Camp held at Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh.

Pridemore and Vandevender will both be senior linemen for the Bulldogs this season.

The players’ camp sponsors were the local chapter of the Blue Knights, the Tygarts Valley Lions Club, Paul and Janice Brady, Daniel Pennington and Carson Markley.

The camp was held June 23-26 and was for ages 7- to 18-years-old.

Dawson is a former Pittsburgh Steeler and NFL Hall of Famer. Other members of the Steelers took part in the event, along with college and high school coaches.

“The instruction these kids get from the coaches, as well as the various NFL players that attend the camp, is invaluable,” Dawson said.

Dawson was named to seven straight Pro Bowls from 1992-98. He was named the co-AFC Offensive Lineman of the Year by the NFLPA in 1993. He played in 170 consecutive games, the second most in Steelers history, and was name to the NFL 1990’s All-Decade Team.

Dawson was elected into the Hall of Fame in 2012.
