Bobcats will open at home
BUCKHANNON – West Virginia Wesleyan’s home football opener has been moved back to Cebe Ross Field.
The Bobcats will play Mountain East Conference foe the University of Charleston at 1 p.m. on Sept. 6 on the school’s campus, WVWC President Pamela Balch announced Thursday during the College’s annual Faculty/Staff Retreat and Recognition Program.
Two weeks ago, the college indicated the first game was to be moved off-campus to Buckhannon-Upshur High School’s Freal “Red” Crites Memorial Stadium.
Deluxe Athletics, the company handling the multi-purpose field renovations, recently informed Wesleyan officials that Ross Field would be ready for the home opener.
“We are very excited for our coaches and players to have the opportunity to play their season opener at Ross Field,” Wesleyan athletic director Randy Tenney said. “We appreciate the offer from Buckhannon-Upshur High School to play the game there, but after talking with Deluxe Athletic representatives, they assured us Cebe Ross Field will be ready on September 6.”
In preparation for the opener, the Bobcats will host an 80-play intra-squad scrimmage at 8 a.m. Saturday at B-UHS.
