Tigers win tri-match against Senior, Preston

ELKINS – The Elkins Tigers claimed a victory on the golf course Wednesday with wins over Big 10 Conference rivals Fairmont Senior and Preston County at the Elks Country Club Golf Course.

“Overall the team did decent,” Tigers coach Dave Baird said. “As a team, we scored well. Braden Hammond played really well. Kole (Hopwood) and Brendan (Cain) also played a decent round. Hopefully, we can continue to improve as the year goes on.”

The Tigers scored 167 as a team.

Hammond earned low medalist with a 35.

Dylan Reckart added a 42, while Cain and Hopwood fired 45s and Joseph Severino a 46.

Fairmont Senior finished with a team-score 180. Nicky Moroose led the Polar Bears with a 41.

Preston tallied a 185. The Knights were led by Vanessa Kelley, who finished with a 38.

The Tigers will return to action at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Fairmont Senior.
