Belington Middle Hawks falls 32-0

BELINGTON – Belington Middle School lost 32-0 to Mountaineer Middle in their first game of the season Wednesday.

Mountaineer Middle School traveled from Morgantown to Barbour County to compete against the Belington Hawks on the Philip Barbour High School football field.

Belington coach Terry “Pickle” Baughman said, “We played hard. Offensively, we did some successful things. We’ll get better in executing plays and tackles.”

Mike Ferguson, principal at Belington, said, “I’m just excited to start football season this year. We have less than 20 players, but they all want to play and they’re going to give it 100 percent every game.”

Belington Middle returns to action Sept. 17, hosting Tygarts Valley Middle. On Sept. 24 they will host Tucker Valley Middle, before traveling to take on Barbour County rival Philippi Middle on Oct. 1.

Belington Middle finishes out the season by traveling to Elkins Middle on Oct. 8 and to play Notre Dame on Oct. 23.
