Bulldogs cruise past Warriors
DUNMORE — Four Tygarts Valley players reached double digits in scoring Friday, as the Bulldogs ran past Pocahontas County, 87-59, in boys varsity basketball action.
“It was one of those nights where everything went right for the Bulldogs,” TVHS coach Tom Wamsley said. “It was a complete turn around from Thursday’s game against Pendleton. The guys were focused. They were talking to each other on the floor, they were actually coaching each other.
” was a whole different ball game. They were much more focused and going after every loose ball. When we did make a bad play, they were hustling and trying to make up for it. We turned several bad plays into good plays, purely from hustle.”
For the Bulldogs, Caleb Riggleman led the pack with 26 points. Zac McCauley contributed 18 points, Garrett Swecker added 14 points and Jake Tackett chipped in 12 points for TVHS.
Briar Wilfong was the top scorer for the Warriors with 22 points. Teammate Logan Dilley also reached double digits in scoring with 11 points.
The Bulldogs opened up a big lead early, taking a 41-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime. TVHS continued to dominate in the second half, putting up 27 points in the third quarter and 29 more in the final period to capture the victory.
