PHILIPPI — The Davis & Elkins College Men’s Basketball team fell in a four-overtime heartbreaker on Saturday to rival Alderson Broaddus 121-119 to close the regular season.

Despite the loss, seniors Kevin Bracy-Davis and Wesley Sprinkle had huge nights for the Senators, as Bracy-Davis led all scorers with 43 points, while Sprinkle set a G-MAC record with nine 3-pointers, including eight in regulation.

The Senators had a strong first half, taking a 42-34 lead into the break. However, the Senators also had to come from behind in the second half, as the hosts went up by as much as five late in the second half.

With the score tied, the Battlers missed a shot as time expired, sending the game to overtime.

In the first overtime, the Senators had a lead, but Alderson Broaddus hit a three with six seconds left to tie the game and Ed Parker’s shot as time expired was no good.

In the second overtime, it was the Senators who overcame a deficit and Jordan McElveen made a layup with six seconds left to tie things at 103.

Alderson Broaddus missed a late shot, forcing a third overtime, where D&E once again had to come from behind. McElveen tied things at 108 with 40 seconds left and both teams missed their last shots of the half, including Teron Owens’ 3-pointer at the buzzer.

The Senators led most of the fourth overtime until the Battlers went up by three with under a minute to go. Sprinkle then hit his ninth and record-setting 3-pointer to tie things at 119. However, the Senators would fall as a layup as time expired gave the Battlers the win.

Both Bracy-Davis and Sprinkle were 12 of 22 from the field in the game. Bracy-Davis was 5-for-7 from behind the arc and 14-for-18 from the free-throw line. He also had eight rebounds and two steals.

Sprinkle was 9-for-16 from behind the arc. He also had 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

McElveen and Parker joined the seniors in double figures. McElveen had 20 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Parker finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

Rickenjee Bellevue led the team with 13 rebounds and had 4 points.

The loss means that the Senators will be the No.3 seed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament and will have to play in the opening round of the tournament on Thursday. The Senators will face Trevecca Nazarene in the opening round
