Sectional loss ends TVHS girls’ season

Tygarts Valley’s Kaleah Pritt works the baseline against Doddridge Friday evening.

MILL CREEK — The Tygarts Valley Lady Bulldogs fell in a first-round sectional game Friday night, bowing to Doddridge County, 53-42.

The Lady Bulldogs trailed by just two points, 12-10, after the first quarter and the score was tied at halftime, 26-26.

“We got into foul trouble and it hurt us in the second half,” TVHS coach Nancy Lewis said.

With the loss, the Lady Bulldogs’ season comes to an end with a 7-16 record.

“It’s been a good season, especially considering that we were playing mostly freshman and sophomores,” Lewis said. “They’re a good group, and they’re all coming back next year. They definitely improved as a team over this season, and I’m looking forward to next year.”

Abby Harris led TVHS with 16 points on the night, while Emily Ball added 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Abby Hoffman had 8 points for the Lady Bulldogs, with Abby Lanham adding 5 steals and 2 points, and Kaleah Pritt contributing 6 rebounds and 2 steals.

Doddridge County was led by Jonna Ferrell with 15 points, Corrina Fulmer with 14 and Cameron Smith with 10.
