AB to have recruit practices

PHILIPPI — The Alderson Broaddus football team kicked off their 2017 spring football practices on Friday morning in preparation for the upcoming season under first year head coach Salvatore Dewalt.

“The first practice went great,” said Dewalt. “The players and coaches were exciting and flying around. We are really looking forward to the opportunity to get better over the course of these 15 practices. The hard work we put in now will lead to a lot of the success we have in the fall.”

During the spring, the team will offer two Saturday practices for any recruits to attend on April 1 and April 8. Those interested in attending should contact coach Dewalt at dewaltsj@ab.edu.

The annual spring game for this year will be at 7 p.m. April 21.

Prior to the game, the team will host a community meet and greet at 6 p.m. on the field.

The Battlers finished the 2016 season with a program-best nine wins and won the inaugural Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship.

In 2017, AB will have six home games in the first expanded season of the G-MAC. This summer, Hillsdale, Ohio Dominican, Walsh, Findlay, and Lake Erie will be joining the conference joining AB, Kentucky Wesleyan and Malone to make up the eight teams representing the G-MAC in football.

AB will open the season at home on Sept. 2 against Saginaw Valley.

Its first conference game will be on Sept. 30 when it travels to Lake Erie.
