ABU Battlers baseball falls
INDIANAPOLIS — The Alderson Broaddus baseball team lost the rubber match of the three game series 13-3 to No.17 University of Indianapolis Sunday afternoon at Greyhound Park.
With the score tied 1-1 in the fifth, the Greyhounds scored six in the fifth and then added five in the sixth to take an 11-1 lead in route to the victory.
Cody Cowart went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Kosta Kafes went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. AB finished with 11 hits in total.
Indianapolis (12-5) was led by Brendan Dudas who finished 3-for-5 with three RBI’s and a run scored. Designated hitter Dylan Jones finished 3-for-3 with six runs drive in, two runs scored, and two walks. Jones finished with a single, triple, and added an inside-the-park home run in the victory.
Zach Salmon got the loss on the mound as he falls to 2-1 on the season. He pitched four and a third innings and gave up six runs, four earned, and gave up four hits. Reid Werner got the win on the bump for U Indy as he pitched five innings and allowed six hits, one run, and struck out two.
AB (7-8) is back in action on Tuesday for a mid-week game at West Virginia State.
