Lady Tigers down Preston Co.

ELKINS — Korri Evans struck out 10 batters Wednesday, as the Lady Tigers defeated Preston County, 5-1, in Big 10 Conference softball action.

“The girls played well tonight,” EHS coach Sherri Collett said. “We had a few errors in a couple spots, but it was a good win for us. We’re looking forward to the rest of the week. The girls fought hard and Korri pitched very well tonight. I’m pleased with the effort.”

Evans earned the victory for EHS. In 6 innings of work, she whiffed 10 batters and gave up 5 hits. The Lady Tigers as a team tallied 5 errors in the contest.

Haley Smith led the charge at the plate for EHS. She went 3 for 3 with a double, a triple and 2 runs scored.

Mckenzie Guy also had a good game, going 2 for 3 with a run scored scored. Sierra Poling had an RBI, while Sydney Leary scored 2 runs and Morgan Bowers collected a hit.

Grace Favro pitched 4 innings and took the loss for PCHS. Hailey Lirengood took over in the fifth inning and struck out 2 batters in 3 innings of work.

Elkins (2-4) is set to host Lincoln today at 6 p.m
