Nine Senators earn All-Conference track and field honors

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Nine Senators from the Davis & Elkins College track and field team earned All-Conference honors at the 2017 G-MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, as announced by the conference office this week.

Six Senators earned All-Conference Team recognition from their performances at the first ever conference championships for the Davis & Elkins track and field program.

Seven Senators also earned All-Freshman team honors.

Dalton Irvine and Hayden Harrison were two Senators who earned both All-Conference and All-Freshman honors.

Irvine earned his honors after taking third overall in the High Jump, clearing 1.85 meters, and finishing sixth in the 55 meter Hurdles, running an 8.25.

Harrison took third overall and was the top freshman in the 5000 Meter Run, finishing with a 15:23.11.

The Distance Medley Relay team of Nick Akins, Dylan Stansberry, Mason Adkins and RJ Weiford also earned All-Conference honors as they took third place with a time of 10:53.78, just .17 seconds behind second place overall.

Adkins and Weiford also earned All-freshman honors to go along with All-Conference honors in the Distance Medley Relay.

David Magda, Daniel Jarrell and Azaria Green also earned All-Freshman honors at the meet.

Daniel Jarrell finished fourth in the 400 Meter Dash, finishing with a 52.37.

In the 1 Mile Run, David Magda also scored fourth for the Senators with a 4:22.97. Magda also ran to a sixth-place finish in the 800 Meter Run with a 1:59.72.

Azaria Green had a top performance for the Senators, taking third in the prelims of the 55 Meter Hurdles with an 8.97. She then ran a 9.42 in the finals to take fifth overall.

The Davis & Elkins College Track & Field program completed its first official season with strong performances at the championships.

The Senators scored 44.5 points on the men’s side, earning fifth overall in the first season of the program. On the women’s side, the program earned 11 points for seventh overall.

Davis & Elkins College now sets its sights on Outdoor Track & Field, carrying momentum from the Championships with the nine individual award winners.
