Senators have strong performances at W&L Carnival event
LEXINGTON, Va. — The Davis & Elkins College Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams had a strong showing on Friday and Saturday at the Washington & Lee Carnival event.
Daniel Jarrell had perhaps the biggest performances of the weekend for Davis & Elkins, taking a second and a third in his two races. Jarrell took second overall in the 200-Meter race with a 22.59.
In the 400-Meter race, Jarrell had a third-place finish, running a 50.21 in the event.
On the women’s side, Moesha Moncrieffe, Roxine Chambers and Jakeya Perrin all had strong finishes in the sprint events.
Moncrieffe ran to a third-place finish in the 100-Meter with a 12.62, while Perrin finished with a seventh, crossing the line at 13.03.
The duo switched places in the 200-Meter race, as Perrin finished fourth overall with a 26.72. Moncrieffe finished just behind Perrin with a 26.77 in fifth. Chambers came in sixth in the 200 with a 27.29.
Chambers also ran to a third-place finish in the 400-Meter race with a 1:01.90.
Azaria Green also had a top-three finish for the Senators in the event, taking third place in the 100-Meter Hurdles with a 16.42.
Dalton Irvine placed in the top 10 in multiple events over the two days. The freshman ran to a seventh-place finish in the 110-Meter Hurdles with a 16.06.
Irvine also cleared 1.74 meters in the High Jump to take ninth overall.
David Magda also had a seventh-place finish in the meet, running a 4:06.48 in the 1500-Meter race.
On the women’s side of the 1500-Meter race, Danielle Haynes ran to an eighth-place finish with a 5:05.88. Haynes also had a 10th place finish in the 800-Meter race.
Hayden Harrison finished with the other top 10 for the Senators over the two days, taking 10th in the 5000-Meter race with a 15:29.59.
The Senators will return to action next week with the closest meet of the season to Elkins, as Davis & Elkins will compete at the West Virginia Wesleyan Invitational. The meet is set for Friday in Buckhannon.
