TENNERTON — Blake Loftis crushed a home run Saturday, as Elkins cruised past Buckhannon-Upshur, 8-1, in Big 10 Conference baseball action.
“It was a really good game,” EHS coach Jack Crumm said. “It was well played on both sides. It was our third game and we had no errors for the game. Our pitchers pitched really well and the fielders fielded really well behind them. I thought we played very well. I was pleased with the effort.”

Matthew Gainer earned the victory in relief for Elkins. He pitched 3 innings, recording 2 strikeouts, 2 hits and a walk. Adam Riggleman started for EHS. In 4 innings of work, he gave up 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 6 batters.
Taylor Whitehair shouldered the loss for the Bucs. He gave up 2 runs on 4 hits in 5 innings, while striking out 4 batters and walking 2 others.
