TVHS Bulldogs blank South Harrison, 10-0

MILL CREEK — Logan George didn’t give up any runs Tuesday, as the Tygarts Valley Bulldogs blanked South Harrison, 10-0, in varsity baseball action.

“Logan (George) pitched really well,” TVHS coach James Markley said. “He worked ahead in the count all night. He kept the ball down and the guys played good defense behind him.

“I think we had five runs in the first inning, and it was good because it gave him momentum and confidence,” Markley said. “Pitching with a lead is big.”

George went the distance to earn the victory for the Bulldogs.

In 5 scoreless innings pitched, he gave up 2 hits and struck out 4 batters.

Dakota Jarrett shouldered the loss for the Hawks.

In 2 innings, he gave up 8 runs on 7 hits while striking out 4 batters and walking 2 others.

Austin Simmons set the tone for TVHS at the plate, going 2 for 2 with 3 RBIs, a walk and a run scored.

Marcus Reynolds finished the day 1 for 1, collecting 3 walks, 3 runs scored and 2 stolen bases.

Rece Wamsley, 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs and a run, Austin Lanham, 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored, and Garrett Swecker, 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs and a double, also played well for the Bulldogs.

Tygarts Valley (4-3) is scheduled to travel to Petersburg today. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
