Elkins’ Reckart wins Callaway Jr. Tour event

CLARKSBURG — Dylan Reckart of Elkins won first place overall and in the 17-18 age group at the Callaway Junior Tour event in Clarksburg Wednesday.

Reckart, who will be a senior at Elkins High School this fall, shot a round of 72, even par, edging out Buckhannon’s Christian McKisic by one stroke.

Tyler Mehr of Buckhannon finished 12th and Chase Reckart of Elkins came in 18th in the 17-18 age group, facing golfers from Ohio, Pennsylvania and across West Virginia.

The 34th season of the Callaway Junior Tour resumed Wednesday after the Fourth of July holiday at Bel Meadows Country Club just outside of Clarksburg.

Reckart also took home the United Bank Boys Low Round of the Day with his even par 72.

On the girls side it was Mary Denny of Mount Hope who claimed the Girls Low Round in a one-hole playoff.

Beverly Toothman of Nutterfort won the girls 15-18 age group.

Carleigh Bolyard of Parsons came in sixth in that age group.

In the other age groups it was Gavin Ray of Lewisburg who won the Boys 15-16, Ryan Bilby of Follansbee who won the 13-14, Sawyer Osborn was the boys 12 and under champion and Mary Denny of Beckley won the Girls 10-14.

The tour continues today at The Pines Country Club and on Friday at Lakeview Resort, both in Morgantown.

“Hopefully this is a sign of a great senior year for Dylan,” said David Baird, the Elkins High School golf coach.
