SISSONVILLE — Sam Ross racked up an RBI triple in the top of the seventh inning Friday, as Elkins Post 29 defeated South Charleston Post 94, 5-2, in American Legion baseball action at Sissonville High School.

“It was the best win of the season,” Post 29 manager Chris George said. “It was our best win, considering the competition. South Charleston is a really good team, as always.

“We were focused throughout the entire game. Defensively, we really played well, especially Brett Smith at shortstop.

“Adam Riggleman pitched probably one of the best games he’s pitched all year, high school and legion combined,” George said. “He really pitched well and he needed that for his confidence. He showed the caliber pitcher that he is tonight.”
