AB football team to host event

PHILIPPI — The Alderson Broaddus University football team will host its annual Community Meet & Greet and fall scrimmage beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium.

Family, friends and community members are invited to come down to the field at 6 p.m. for the meet & greet with the team.

At 6:45 p.m., the players will clear the field to begin preparation for the open scrimmage which will begin around 7:30 p.m.

Recently the Great Midwest released their preseason coaches poll, with the Battlers picked to finish in fourth place.

AB won the inaugural G-MAC Championship in 2016, finishing with a 9-2 overall record.

On July 1, Findlay, Lake Erie, Ohio Dominican, Hillsdale and Walsh joined the league to make up an eight-team football conference.

AB opens the season at noon Sept. 2 when it hosts Saginaw Valley State. All members of the Armed Services, whether active, reserve, or retired, are invited to the game free of charge for Military Appreciation Day.

EMT and police are also invited to the game free of charge.
