Tucker earns victory

ELKINS — Carleigh Bolyard earned the low medal Wednesday, as Tucker County downed Tygarts Valley, 174-197, at the Elks Country Club.

“We played better than expected,” TCHS coach Sam Goughnour said. “I knew they were 12 to 15 strokes better than what they played in the first match.

“They pulled things together,” he said. “I was proud of them, to go to a different course and play and do pretty well.”

Bolyard set the pace with 39 strokes in the 9-hole matchup.

Tucker County’s Easton Snyder was just off the mark with 40 strokes, while Connor Nestor took 45 shots and Myles Paugh notched 50.

Andrew Holbrook led the Bulldogs with 41 strokes.

Wade State finished the day with 52 shots, while Mackenzie Staten shot a 54 and Cole Arbogast shot a 51.

“It was a great day for a match,” TVHS coach Jonathan Kyle said.

“I’m proud of our young team. They continue to improve each time they are out.”
