Bulldogs drop Paden City, 52-14

PADEN CITY — The Tygarts Valley Bulldogs’ offense exploded Friday evening, defeating Paden City, 52-14, in varsity football action.

“The guys played real well tonight,” TVHS coach Rodney Bright said. “They came out all fired up and ready to play, a lot better than last week.

“Jake (Tackett) and Hunter (Davis) ran the ball real well. We mixed up our Power I and Pro sets a little bit. We had a pretty balanced attack with rushing and passing. The line did a tremendous job blocking up front.”

The Bulldogs dominated the game from the beginning, running out to a 33-0 lead at halftime. TVHS quarterback Jake Tackett completed 7 of 9 passes for 154 yards and 3 touchdowns and rushed the ball 7 times for 73 yards and 1 TD.

Hunter Davis finished the game with 8 carries for 144 yards and 3 TDs, along with 115 yards receiving and 2 TDs.

Elijah Scott ran the ball 10 times for 45 yards and 1 TD, while Dalton Grimes caught a 20 yard touchdown pass. Grimes also added a 70-yard kick return for a score.

Bright said offensive linemen Willie Walden, Joey Taylor, Jayden Stafford, P.J. Brady and Andrew Maxwell should also be recognized.

On defense, Daniel White racked up 8 tackles. Tackett added 4 tackles and 1 assist, Joey Taylor had 3 tackles, 1 assist and 1 sack, Brady made 3 tackles and 2 assists, Scott notched 1 sack, and Caden Boggs, Isaiah Shiflett and Davis had 1 tackle each.

Tygarts Valley (1-2) is set to host Doddridge County Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
