Lady Bulldogs win first game of year

MILL CREEK — The Tygarts Valley volleyball squad won their first game of the season Thursday, defeating Webster County at home.

The Lady Bulldogs won three of five sets against Webster.

The scores were 10-25, 25-22, 25-20, 13-25 and 20-18.

“We’ve got a young team here,” TVHS coach Kenny Pingley said. “We only have two seniors this year.”

Katy Defibaugh had 11 kills, 4 assists and 5 aces in the game, while Tatum Wamsley added 9 kills and an ace. Abby Boggs posted 9 kills and 4 assists, with Bethany Ogden adding 9 kills and an ace, and Alana Rennix contributed 8 kills and 11 assists.

TVHS (1-7) will travel to face Notre Dame on Tuesday.

The Tygarts Valley junior varsity team dropped its game against Fairmont Senior. The set scores were 21-25, 26-24 and 7-25.
