East Hardy slams Tucker

BAKER — Quarterback Clay Skovron accounted for 4 touchdowns Friday as Class A No. 2 ranked East Hardy breezed past Tucker County, 55-14, in Potomac Valley Conference football action.

For East Hardy, Skovron completed 11 of 15 passes for 209 yards and 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also carried the ball 5 times for 49 yards and 1 TD.

Running back Philip Mullen set the pace on the ground for the Cougars with 12 carries for 85 yards and 3 TDs. Brett Tharp led the receivers with 7 catches for 149 yards and 1 TD. Aden Funkhouser also had a big day, hauling in 3 receptions for 52 yards and 2 TDs.

The Cougars finished the game with 405 yards of total offense, including 176 yards on the ground and 229 yards in the air.

Tucker County recorded 227 yards of total offense, with 85 yards on the ground and 142 yards through the air. Both teams turned the ball over twice.

Tucker County quarterback Luke Poling went 8 for 21 with 83 yards and 2 interceptions in the air, while backup William Hood completed 2 of 5 passes for 59 yards and 1 TD.

Running back Brett Reall carried the ball 10 times for 63 yards and 1 TD, while Cole Rapp chewed up 39 yards on 7 carries and caught 2 passes for 41 yards. Hunter Collar chipped in 29 yards on 3 carries and Ben Comer grabbed 3 passes for 73 yards and 1 TD.

East Hardy jumped out to a 21-point lead at the end of the first quarter and ran the tally to 49-0 at the half. Mullen scored once in the second half for EHHS before Hood and Cromer hooked up on a TD pass and Reall found the endzone to make the final 55-14.

Tucker County (2-5) will have a week off to prepare for Pendleton County on Oct. 20. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

East Hardy (7-0) is set to host Moorefield next Friday at 7 p.m.
